The True Story of Christmas

And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.

And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.  And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. — Luke 2:1-11

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. — John 3:16

All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; and the wages of sin is death, but God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us — Romans 3:23; 6:23; 5:8.

The light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. This was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.  He came unto his own, and his own received him not  — John 1:5, 9-11.

The true story of Christmas is that God sent this Light, which was, and is, His Son Jesus Christ, to us and for us! The Bible states that when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons — Galatians 4:4-5

God sent Jesus to be born into humanity so that He could die for humanity. The salary for our sin is death, but Jesus paid this debt for all mankind! You must only accept this payment made on your behalf by believing, receiving, and calling upon the Lord Jesus Christ through genuine faith!

Jesus is the best gift one can ever receive for Christmas because He is the Gift of Christmas. Accepting Him as your personal Savior is the only true way to receive the forgiveness of sins and eternal life — and it is certainly the only way to truly have a "merry" Christmas!
